Strategic Planning
Consulted on the development of the strategic plan for one of Canada’s largest libraries. Designed, managed and facilitated the process to develop the leadership capacity of the senior administration group.

Worked with social service agencies in Burnaby to develop a strategic service delivery model for that community. This process involved research and analysis, including the engagement of over 700 community stakeholders through surveys and focus groups.

Designed and led a strategic planning process for one of Canada’s most complex library systems. The process engaged board representatives, senior administrators and front-line staff and involved finding common ground among many disparate and competing interests.

Led a process to develop a strategic and operational plan for a health service delivery organization. The planning exercise involved the board of directors, management, staff, clients, funders, and key stakeholders from the community.

Consultation and Facilitation

Designed, facilitated and managed a province-wide consultation process, and from that input, developed recommendations for the program and operational plan of a leading research and educational facility in Vancouver. This process also achieved a secondary objective: to establish relationships between the client and key stakeholders.

Facilitated a province-wide consultation process for a Provincial ministry to inform the development of new regulations governing residential care and child care in British Columbia.

Designed and facilitated a multi-stakeholder process to clarify issues and address concerns that had emerged from the introduction of new Provincial regulations and programs.

Research
Designed, managed and administered a comprehensive needs assessment study for a major public library in British Columbia. The study involved both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, including a survey of 1100 library users, a community survey of 400 non-users, focus groups and key stakeholder interviews.

Designed and conducted a broad public process to explore information needs, preferred modes of information access, patterns of Internet use, and patterns of community business, service and facility use to inform the development of a service delivery model for a community service organization.

Conducted research to inform the development of a strategic plan for the delivery of programs to school-aged children in Burnaby. The research framework was developed based on a comprehensive review of literature and best practices. The research design involved the development, administration and analysis of a survey of service delivery agencies and focus groups with parents and children.                                                                                 back to top

Evaluation
Designed and conducted an evaluation of five Parenting and Family Literacy Centres for a school district in Greater Vancouver. The evaluation components included a parent survey; focus groups involving parents, program leaders and community partners; and administrative and program data analysis.

Worked with a community agency to evaluate a neighbourhood small grants program. The process involved focus groups with participants, volunteer leaders and staff, as well as the analysis of program data.

Board Development and Governance
Worked with a government-appointed governing board through its transition to a regional authority. This work included the development of the mission, vision and values, the governance model, the identification of objectives and performance indicators, and the design of a planning framework to link strategic planning, annual reporting and stakeholder consultation.

Worked with the board of a health service organization to strengthen its governance capacity. This work included facilitating the development of a strategic plan and annual operational plans, creating a board policy manual, and designing and facilitating the annual CEO and board evaluation processes.

Developed a governance model, including committee structure and terms of reference, for a health care organization. This involved broad consultation to ensure representation from key stakeholder groups.

Developed governance policies for a Provincial crown agency, including conflict of interest, ethics, reporting, accountability, role of the chair, role of board members, CEO evaluation and board evaluation policies.
